EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Volunteers raced to move boxes labeled “clothes” and “medicine” resting at the center of a restaurant in Central El Paso, all destined for Venezuela, a country devastated by two earthquakes.
The two major earthquakes struck the South American country last week but efforts to locate thousands of people are still underway. The people sorting donations and aid at the Caracas Latin Food Restaurant had those people and their families in mind.
“A lot of the population live in buildings, apartments, the ones that have collapsed and the ones affected,” Antonio Cachazo, an organizer behind the relief effort in El Paso, said. “Many people are telling us that family members are sleeping on the streets or the plazas because they are scared.”…
