Aligned Data Centers has moved forward with Project Caprock

LUBBOCK, Texas — Aligned Data Centers has moved forward with plans for Project Caprock, a data center campus near Abernathy, Texas. The approximately $425 million project is located on a 313-acre site just off FM 54 in Hale County and is expected to include six facilities, with the first building scheduled to open in early 2027.

According to company information, construction on the project officially began after a groundbreaking on April 9, following earlier discussions at a community meeting in February where residents and developers reviewed the proposal and raised concerns about local impacts.

In response, developers with Aligned Data Centers said the project was designed with sustainability in mind, including systems intended to reduce water use and overall environmental impact. Company representatives emphasized that sustainability is a key priority in the development of the campus.
