OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Omaha City Council is set to vote Tuesday on a $10.4 million redevelopment plan that would demolish the Vinton Street grain silos, a structure that has sat vacant since the late 1970s.
The silos have drawn repeated complaints from neighbors and city officials over vandalism, trespassing, and safety concerns. Councilman Ron Hug said the site has become a persistent problem.
Neighbors cite safety, trespassing concerns
Bryan Mislivec and his fiancée Tina Werner have lived next to the silos for 16 years. They said unwanted visitors are a constant issue.
“There’s been nights where we see them at the way top and they will be skateboarding,” Werner said. “It just makes you sick because it’s like, oh my god if someone falls.”…
