A Sunday disturbance on a Waterbury corner ended with a Bronx man under arrest after police say he fired a handgun into the air near Chase Avenue and Cooke Street.
Officers were called to the area around 1:53 p.m. and found several spent shell casings. No one was hurt and there was no reported property damage, despite the gunfire.
Police response and arrest
Waterbury police identified the suspect as 51-year-old William Pichardo of the Bronx. He was taken into custody at the scene, and investigators recovered multiple spent shell casings, according to a department release shared with local media, WFSB reported.
Charges and court date
Pichardo is facing a stack of charges, including second-degree breach of peace, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal sale or transfer of a firearm, and carrying a pistol or revolver without a permit.
