HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A local woman lost several thousand dollars in a phone scam on Monday as the Christian County Sheriff’s Office warns of an influx of impersonating calls.
The Hopkinsville Police Department is currently investigating an incident where a 71-year-old woman was targeted in this scam on June 29. A person posing as a CCSO deputy over the phone convinced her to pay $4,500. No arrests have been made in connection to this specific call, but a suspect could potentially face a charge related to unlawful access to a computer.
Just days before this investigation, CCSO warned the public about the circulating scam, saying that they recently received reports of people impersonating deputies over the phone.
