SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Zoe Nika Reidy Watts, a 25-year-old San Francisco State University student, was tortured and killed inside her on-again, off-again boyfriend’s Oakland apartment in March 2024. On Friday, an Alameda County jury found Victor Tyrone Frieson III guilty of her murder.
In addition to the second-degree murder conviction, Frieson was found guilty of felony counts of torture and corporal injury to a relationship partner.
During Frieson’s year-long spotty relationship with Watts, there were two reported domestic violence incidents, according to prosecutors. On March 1, 2024, Frieson inflicted “catastrophic injuries that resulted in her death,” the DA’s office wrote.

Watts was described by DA Ursula Jones Dickson as “a talented artist, a dedicated student, and a young woman whose future was filled with promise.” She was a San Francisco native who graduated from Alameda High School in 2017 before attending SFSU as a College of Liberal and Creative Arts student, according to the university’s newspaper.
