After judge’s recusal reversed, November trial date set in Madison Brooks rape case

A new trial date has been set for Casen Carver, one of the suspects in the 2023 alleged rape of LSU student Madison Brooks, who was fatally struck by a car after she was dropped off afterward.

The trial has been scheduled for Nov. 16, with attorneys saying they expect a total of seven days of evidence.

Judge Gail Horne Ray of the 19th Judicial District will preside over the trial, after the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled not to recuse her from the case over claims she might be friendly toward Carver’s family…
