Rockford man, 20, sentenced after agencies track illegal gun devices from O’Hare to home

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A man arrested by SWAT at the conclusion of a weapons investigation begun by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has been sentenced to 3 years in prison.

On February 23, 2026, DHS agents notified local law enforcement that a shipment of two illegal “switch” devices, which convert standard semi-automatic pistols into machine guns, was intercepted at O’Hare airport.

Agents from the Illinois State Police, Cook County Sheriff’s Police Organized Crime Division, along with the US Postal Inspection Service and State Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT) officers, converged on a home in the 4700 block of Highcrest Road to observe a controlled delivery of the package…
