Sam Page sues Rockingham County, Commissioner Kevin Berger for allegedly demanding repayment of part of salary

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page is suing the county government, as well as Board of Commissioners Chair Kevin Berger, the son of North Carolina state Sen. Phil Berger (R-Rockingham), over an order to repay money he was paid back to the county and allegations of campaign finance violations.

Page claims in the lawsuit that Commissioner Berger retaliated against him because he was opposed to casino legislation that Sen. Berger supported and for running against Sen. Berger in the primary election for North Carolina State Senate District 26.

Page ultimately won the contentious primary after Berger conceded and will face Democrat Dr. Steve Luking in the general election on Nov. 3…
