WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — Ahead of people across America commemorating the country’s 250th anniversary, a Winston-Salem State University student had the opportunity to share how African Americans and people of color were impacted by North Carolina’s legal landscape before, during and after the Revolutionary War and the overall resilience of these communities.
Olivia Cody, a senior teaching major with a concentration in middle-grade social studies, interned with the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources during the summer of 2025.
