ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — With day of dangerous heat ahead of us this week, the impact of our ongoing drought is affecting more than just lawns water levels and crops.
An Alamance County cattle farmer says conditions are so bad he may have no choice but to sell part of his herd just to keep his farm going.
Mel Aldridge says he tends to a herd of cattle on the Aldridge Family farm in Alamance County.
He says the farm that has been around for 200 years has seen better days. The ongoing drought has caused grass to not grow as fast to produce hay.
Hard Decisions
“I’ve got to make a decision at some point in the near future on whether or not to keep the cows that I’ve got or sell the herd down to a point where I can feed them through the winter,” Aldridge said…
