Tampa Facility Faces Record Cat Overcrowding at 700% Capacity, Pushes Wait Until 8 Initiative

The Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center holds somewhere between 360 and 390 cats daily. That’s 700% above what the place was built for — just 60 cats. This Tampa location at 440 N. Falkenburg Road has never seen anything like it.

Chelsea Waldeck works as a Division Director at the Pet Resource Center. She said last year peaked around 600% over what they could handle. “For us to see 700% was unheard of, we hadn’t had that in the past,” said Waldeck, according to TampaBay28.com.
