Rockford Public Schools superintendent Dr. Ehren Jarrett ends 13-year tenure

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Tuesday marks the final day on the job for Dr. Ehren Jarrett as superintendent of Rockford Public Schools, bringing to a close a 13-year tenure that made him the district’s longest-serving superintendent in more than six decades.

Jarrett announced in March 2025 that he would not seek a new contract and would remain in the position through June 30, 2026, giving the district more than a year to conduct a search for its next leader.

Jarrett became superintendent in 2013, stepping into a district that had experienced frequent turnover in its top leadership position. According to Rockford Public Schools and local reporting, he became the longest-serving superintendent the district has had since the 1960s…
