Gordonsville Independence Day Parade postponed due to extreme heat

GORDONSVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Organizers postponed the 2026 Gordonsville Independence Day Parade, which was scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at 9 a.m. on Main Street, due to forecast extreme heat conditions.

Parade planner Jill Grant announced the decision on Facebook, citing temperatures expected to exceed 100 degrees and the day falling on the fifth consecutive day of extreme heat.

“I do not believe it is prudent to ask participants, volunteers, spectators, public safety personnel, and community members to spend extended periods outdoors under these conditions,” Grant wrote…
