Georgia man sentenced for stealing more than $65K worth of equipment from Sampson County business

SALEMBURG, N.C. (WNCN) — A Georgia man was sentenced to federal prison for stealing $65,000 worth of farm machinery and equipment from a business in Sampson County, prosecutors said Tuesday.

According to the Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, Roderick Michael Bates used stolen identities with fake driver’s licenses to fraudulently purchase items from a farm machinery and equipment business in Salemburg.

The stolen items totaled more than $65,000, including a zero-turn mower, an Evolution D5 Ranger golf cart, and 12-foot and 16-foot dump trailers, according to federal prosecutors…
