CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) — A congregation older than the United States will celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary by returning to its roots.
First Presbyterian Church in Carlisle will hold a colonial-style service on Sunday. The church building dates back to 1757, though members have worshipped in the Cumberland Valley as far back as 1734.
There will be no pipe organ during the service, and all music will be sung a cappella. But don’t expect any hymns — churches used to only sing Psalms…
