A Lakeland man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges connected to a 2020 fatal Christmas Eve shooting.
Taqiy Lewis, 29, pleaded guilty to two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition in March. He admitted to being in possession of a Kahr CM9 9mm pistol and Aguila ammunition despite prior felony convictions.
Lewis was sentenced to the maximum penalty of 15 years on each count by Judge Kathryn K. Mizelle in the Middle District Court of Florida on July 1. Mizelle ordered the sentences to run consecutively, for a total of 30 years…
