Bystanders jump in to help injured Horry County deputy during warrant arrest

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Two bystanders stepped in to help when they saw a combative suspect giving a Horry County deputy a hard time.

A deputy with the Horry County Sheriff’s Office was trying to serve an outstanding bench warrant for drug-related charges Monday in Myrtle Beach.

The deputy saw the suspect, Charles Rumsey, 54, exit a home on 31st Avenue North, but Rumsey ignored the deputy’s commands and took off running, the sheriff’s office said.

In a nearby T-Mobile parking lot, the deputy caught up to Rumsey and took him to the ground…
