Local organizations unite to aid vulnerable during heatwave

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – As another stretch of heat settles through our region, local organizations are teaming up to help one of our communities most vulnerable population.

“It can be death, people can die of dehydration. I think that people think, oh well, it’s hot. But what they don’t think about is the sunburn, the insects that bite people and all the other things that they have to go through,” said Melissa Woodson the Executive Director at RAM House.

According to organization leaders, many people living without shelter are older or already dealing with serious health conditions. That makes the extreme heat even more dangerous…
