WECT INVESTIGATES: Wilmington police officer won’t face charges after SBI investigation

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Wilmington police officer accused of falsifying her timesheets won’t face charges after an SBI investigation, District Attorney Jason Smith confirmed.

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) had opened a probe into Lt. Dena Larry for alleged financial misconduct, an SBI spokesperson said in February.

According to a motion to obtain personnel records filed in court in March, the investigation looked into allegations Larry had clocked hours as if she were on-duty at WPD when she wasn’t, with the city footing the bill for time she allegedly didn’t work…
