Man sentenced to over 10 years in prison in Amarillo Federal Court on drug charge

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — A man was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison on a drug-related charge in Amarillo Federal Court.

Jermicheal Gills pleaded guilty to “possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine” through a plea agreement.

In August 2025, according to court documents, Amarillo Police Officers allegedly found methamphetamine in a suitcase Gills was traveling with at a bus terminal. At the time of his arrest, Gills allegedly told law enforcement that he was going to be paid $1,000 for completing his intended trip with the suitcase.

Gills was sentenced to 140 months in prison. The sentence is set to run consecutively with any sentence ordered in an unrelated Indiana case…
