LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – With high school graduates preparing to leave for college in the coming weeks, a Lubbock pharmacist is urging families to check vaccination records before move-in day — specifically for the meningitis vaccine required by the state.
Crocket Tidwell, a pharmacist at United Pharmacy, said bacterial meningitis carries a significant fatality rate and can cause lasting physical harm.
“It’s 10% to 15% of people that contract it will die from it,” Tidwell said. “And you can have amputations from it. So the disease itself, there’s not many infectious diseases that are more deadly than bacterial meningitis.”…
