Summerfest eases water bottle policy as extreme heat continues

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Summerfest is temporarily changing its carry-in policy to help festivalgoers stay safe during the ongoing extreme heat.

For Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3, fans will be allowed to bring one factory-sealed plastic water bottle, 20 ounces or smaller, into Henry Maier Festival Park. The exception does not apply to the American Family Insurance Amphitheater.

Organizers are also expanding cooling options throughout the grounds for the final weekend of the festival. Misting stations and drinking water fountains will be available, while air-conditioned Milwaukee County Transit System buses will serve as cooling centers at the north and south ends of the park. The Bo Black Family Fountain near the Mid Gate will also be open for children to cool off…
