(AUSTIN) KXAN — A parasitic illness is spreading across the country, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating the source after at least 20 people were hospitalized. Confirmed cases have been reported in Texas and 16 other states.
Cyclospora is a parasitic illness that causes intestinal infection and is commonly linked to produce contaminated with feces. The CDC says the most commonly reported symptom is recurring watery diarrhea, which can sometimes be severe.
