As temperatures soared, the new Knickerbocker Aquatic Center opened to swimmers Thursday in Troy, providing them a chance to escape the heat.
The facility features an eight-lane Olympic-size pool, three splash pads, a pool deck with seats and a pool house. It replaces the former Knickerbacker Pool, which closed 10 years ago.
Construction began last year. There is also a handicap-accessible, zero-depth walking entrance into the pool, which will be open from 1-6 p.m. every day. Admission is free to city residents…
