FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — A home was destroyed in a fire in Franklin County on Thursday evening, and one firefighter was transported to a hospital for treatment of a heat-related illness before being released, according to Franklin County Fire & EMS.
The fire was reported at 5:44 p.m. when a 911 call was received by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center. Responding crews reported seeing heavy black smoke from as far away as Rocky Mount and the Mount Pleasant area while en route to the scene.
The first firefighters to arrive, including crews from the Burnt Chimney Volunteer Fire Department, Franklin County Fire & EMS Station 15 and Scruggs Volunteer Fire & Rescue, determined the blaze was a working fire and requested additional tanker trucks to establish a water supply…
