Eastern Iowa farming grants cut by USDA restored in court

AMANA, Iowa (KCRG) – Two eastern Iowa farming nonprofits are now able to continue their programs for underserved farmers.

Amana-based Iowa Valley Resource Conservation and Development, as well as Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT) in West Branch will get their funding back due to a court order on Tuesday.

A federal district court in Washington D.C. granted a preliminary injunction restoring $127 million in canceled grants in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s “Increasing Land, Capital, and Market Access Program.”…
