Less than a year after FormFactor acquired a 50,000-square-foot industrial campus made up of four buildings in Farmers Branch, the semiconductor supplier is receiving a $24.2 million grant from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund to help complete the buildout of the site and expand manufacturing.
FormFactor purchased the facility at 4350 Innovation Drive for $55 million last year and is transforming it into a manufacturing hub for its flagship probe cards—the precision hardware chipmakers use to electrically test semiconductors before they’re packaged and shipped. The technology helps manufacturers identify defects, improve production yields, and verify performance before chips make their way into AI servers, smartphones, cars, and other electronic devices.
The facility came equipped with specialized clean-room space, allowing FormFactor to accelerate production while avoiding the cost and timeline of building a new semiconductor plant from the ground up…
