SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Two Shreveport Police Department corporals were named the top two DWI enforcement officers in Louisiana by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Cpl. Darryl Council and Cpl. Corey Sullivan, each a member of Shreveport’s DWI Task Force, received recognition for their work in getting impaired drivers off the road.
Council has spent nine years with the Shreveport Police Department and four years on the DWI Task Force. He said the job involves more than making arrests.
“The opportunity to be able to help people, I really enjoy that,” Council said. “Sometimes we find people with flat tires, and you know they need assistance, so anything we can do to kind of push cars off the road if they run out of gas. Anything we can do to help keep traffic flowing and get people to a safe place while they wait for further assistance.”…
