WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A central Kansas community college is joining the Metallica Scholars Initiative.
Barton Community College is one of 18 new schools to join the initiative, which is a partnership between the rock band Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and the American Association of Community Colleges. Fifteen of the new schools will receive $75,000 to “enhance the student experience within career and technical education programs,” and three will receive $50,000 to purchase new equipment for their career and technical programs.
Barton is just the second Kansas institution to be a part of the initiative. WSU Tech has been a part of the program since it first launched in 2019, back when it was known as the Wichita State University Campus of Applied Sciences and Technology.
