GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (WNYT) — Guilderland Police said a shoplifting report at Crossgates Mall led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Albany man and a teen girl on weapons charges.
According to police, officers with the department’s Retail Interdiction Detail were called by Crossgates Mall security at about 7:50 p.m. Thursday, July 2, after a reported theft at a store inside the mall. Security gave officers descriptions of the suspects and their location after they were seen leaving the store.
Police said officers found the group inside the mall and saw a handgun in the male suspect’s waistband during the investigation. As officers tried to detain him, police said he ran and a girl tried to interfere with the chase before officers took her into custody…
