Blacksburg park could be sold at auction; community raises money to keep it open

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – Neighbors in Blacksburg are racing to save a small, privately-owned park before part of the property goes to auction later this month.

Harvey Lee Price Park — known for its creek, trails and a historic homestead — sits on more than 23 acres and is a popular spot for families looking for a slice of nature close to home.

Renee Rippe, a mother of two, said she takes her kids to the park almost every day. “This is such a small little park but it’s really a diamond in this community,” Rippe said. “My kids love it. The water is just the right depth for kids to go and explore the nature inside of a creek.”…
