Wildfire burning on hillside near Cal State San Bernardino

Firefighters have stopped the spread of a wildfire burning along a hillside near California State University, San Bernardino Friday, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District.

The fire is burning behind a residential area, east of the university, near I and 59th streets in San Bernardino.

The fire had a “medium” fuel source with a “rapid rate of spread,” the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District initially stated on social media.

As of 7:48 p.m., firefighters held the fire to 23.4 acres. Crews have made “good progress” on the fire, according to San Bernardino County Fire. Officials have not said what may have caused the fire at this time…
