Texas Attorney General launches investigation into StubHub over World Cup tickets

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Friday his office has launched an investigation into StubHub over “widespread reports that the company is cancelling or failing to provide World Cup tickets that fans have purchased.”

According to a release from the AG’s office, fans across the country, including in host cities Dallas and Houston, have reported that “StubHub cancelled their tickets days or even hours before kickoff.”

The release said StubHub has blamed FIFA’s ticketing platform and “transfer problems”; however, the AG’s office said consumer reports show a larger problem of “ghost ticketing” where sellers list tickets they do not actually have, collect the money, and then cancel when they can’t deliver the tickets…
