The Springfield Police Department issued citations to eight pedestrians and one driver during a crosswalk enforcement operation on July 1, according to a news release.
The enforcement operation took place at the high-intensity activated crosswalk (HAWK) signal location north of Kearney Street on north Glenstone Avenue, near the Oasis Convention Center. While 22 pedestrians crossed safely the eight pedestrians who received citations had “crossed an arterial roadway not in the crosswalk.” The driver violated a red light at the crosswalk.
