Juvenile Detention Renovation Delayed by Safety Fix

ADRIAN — The Maurice Spears Campus juvenile detention renovation, originally set to finish in mid-April, remains behind schedule after crews found sleeping room doors opening the wrong direction.

Doors need to open outward, since a detained juvenile could otherwise block them from opening inward. Buildings and Grounds staff called it a straightforward safety concern: a young person upset about being detained may refuse to open the door themselves.
