Big Tree EMS to transition to all-volunteer model

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Over 1,100 — that’s how many calls Big Tree EMS services have responded to in just the last seven months. But soon, that number will turn to zero, as the town plans to get rid of Big Tree’s paid EMS services.

“This will be bad,” Big Tree EMS employee Frank Liguori said. “This will be very critical for the community.”

Big Tree EMS is a non-profit service which operates out of Big Tree Volunteer Fire Company. Two years after its creation, Big Tree EMS is expected to transition from a paid service to an all-volunteer model at the end of the month…
