Man, 58, killed in wrong-way crash in Algoma Twp.

ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 58-year-old man died Saturday after crashing head-first into another vehicle while driving in the wrong direction, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office said.

The 58-year-old man was driving his SUV in the wrong lane of Algoma Avenue NE south of 15 Mile Road in Algoma Township around 12:30 a.m. Saturday when he hit a pickup truck head-on. He became trapped inside his SUV and had to be extricated by first responders, deputies said in a statement. He was hospitalized and later died of his injuries.
