A man accused of illegally digging for artifacts at a protected Native American archaeological site in North Florida was found hiding face down in mud after wildlife officers tracked him through swampy woods with a K9.
The encounter, shown in bodycam footage published by WildlifeWarden, happened in early 2024 inside the Aucilla Wildlife Management Area in Jefferson County. Officers had noticed signs of recent digging near the protected site, then found a parked car with dirt-covered gloves sitting on the dashboard.
