After a rainy and stormy 4th of July for many Arkansans, more summertime pop-ups are expected in the days to come.
Before that forecast, though, a complex of showers and storms overnight is expected to bring a low risk of damaging wind gusts to parts of northwestern and western Arkansas. It’ll weaken as it approaches central Arkansas, or dive southwest of the state altogether. Forecast models are split on the placement and timing of this overnight round. Those in northwestern and western Arkansas for the overnight should keep a close eye on the weather.
Sunday, if showers remain around for the morning, less afternoon activity is expected. But if showers aren’t around in the morning (they’d be lingering from the overnight complex), more summertime mid-day to afternoon pop-up showers and storms are likely.
Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s behind a cool front Sunday morning. Heat index values in the mid to upper 90s or triple digits are possible.
Another Heat Advisory has been issued for parts of central Arkansas, the River Valley, and eastern Arkansas on Sunday, July 5, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central Daylight Time.
Monday and Tuesday, highs are in the low 90s with mid-day, afternoon, and evening pop-up showers and storms with the heat. This activity will subside around sunset each day.
By Wednesday, mid 90s for highs return, and rain chances are more isolated.
