A Wisconsin man who admitted to causing a fatal drunken crash that killed his 77-year-old mother before fleeing the scene and hiding inside a crawl space at his home has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term.
Casey Yiannackopoulos, 48, pleaded guilty to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle in connection with the November 2025 crash that claimed his mother’s life. A judge sentenced him to 18 years in prison, followed by eight years of probation.
Guilty Plea Reduced Original Charges
As part of the case, Yiannackopoulos originally faced several serious charges, including:
- First-degree reckless homicide
- Hit-and-run involving death
- Two counts of resisting or obstructing an officer
He later entered a guilty plea to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
Judge Imposes 18-Year Prison Sentence
During sentencing, Yiannackopoulos apologized to his family and spoke emotionally about his mother.
