Coastal showers linger into Sunday as the holiday weekend marches on with a heat up to the north

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – Low pressure near Kodiak Island has been wrapping in showers for much of Southcentral today and even into Sunday. Coastal areas will continue to plan around showers into the close of the weekend, but on the other side of the state, high pressure is bringing sun, sun, sun!

Across Southcentral, coastal areas of the Kenai Peninsula and into the Copper River Basin will get another 0.15 to 0.4 inches of rain through Sunday. Seward and Whittier will receive the heavier amounts of rain Sunday with inland areas from Anchorage northward drying off. Mostly cloudy skies will start the day in Anchorage but you’ll see a bit more sun by the afternoon with partly sunny skies in the forecast. Temperatures Sunday will feel a bit cool similar to Saturday, but by next week many areas of Southcentral will reach near 70 degrees. Despite wet weather through the weekend, sunshine will expand through Southcentral through the week.
