Yesterday’s strong thunderstorms brought damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and brief periods of heavy rainfall across central and eastern DeSoto County. We could see a similar setup develop again later this afternoon, so it’s another day to stay weather aware. While not everyone will see a storm, any thunderstorm that develops has the potential to become strong with gusty winds, dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, and locally heavy downpours.
For today, we’ll start with mostly cloudy skies before transitioning to partly cloudy conditions by midday. Expect a high of 91 degrees this afternoon, with southwest winds around 5 mph outside of any thunderstorms. We’ll carry a 30% chance of afternoon and early evening thunderstorms, and a few could once again become strong. Tonight, skies will gradually clear with a low of 73 degrees…
