UNCW transfer Brady Thompson commits to East Carolina

East Carolina has added some more depth from the transfer portal in the form of UNC Wilmington transfer Brady Thompson. The sophomore infielder/pitcher spent the last two years with the Seahawks, throwing a handful of innings, in addition to also playing in 73 games, with 43 starts in the field across multiple positions.

Thompson’s father, Travis Thompson, played for East Carolina in the late 1990s. He was a 1999 draft pick of the Cincinnati Reds.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Thompson primarily played second base as a freshman for UNCW, hitting .289 with seven doubles, 14 RBIs, and 18 walks against 19 strikeouts. He also recorded five stolen bases. Thompson opened his sophomore season in 2026 as the team’s starting first baseman, but struggled to get into a rhythm, ultimately batting .171 with three doubles and one homer in 40 games (19 starts).
