Man completes cross country U.S. tribute run on Independence Day

WAIKIKI, Hawaii — Cross-country runner Noah Coughlan, who stopped in Madison in February during a final run across America to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary, ended his journey in Hawaii on Saturday.

Coughlan was in Wisconsin’s capital city on Feb. 27 during his fifth and final run across the country. His journey began in Maine.

“It’s a chance to go across America, meet everybody — from schoolchildren to World War II veterans — and celebrate our very existence as Americans,” Coughlan previously told News 3 Now. “It’s not political in any way.”…
