1 injured in Georgetown Township semi crash

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 20-year-old woman was seriously injured after crashing into a semi-truck in Georgetown Township Monday morning, Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies say.

The 20-year-old driver was heading north on 48th Avenue from Bauer Road around 7:30 a.m. when she crossed the center line and hit a semi coming from the opposite direction. The semi then veered off the road, crashed into a drainage ditch on the east side of 48th Avenue and tipped on its side, deputies said in a release.

The semi’s fuel tank was damaged in the crash, deputies said, causing diesel fuel to leak into the ditch. As of about 9:45 a.m. Monday, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office HazMat Team and the Georgetown Township Fire Department were working to clean up the spill…
