Former Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright will be sentenced in federal court this week after admitting to using the authority of his office to steal money intended for deputies in need, keeping a relative on the county payroll despite little evidence he worked, and obtaining prescription drugs while serving as the county’s top law enforcement off icer.
Wright is charged with wire fraud conspiracy, obtaining controlled substances by misrepresentation, and conspiracy to commit theft concerning programs receiving federal funds.
