South Florida rescue teams return after devastating Venezuela earthquake mission

MIAMI, Fla. (CBS12) — Florida’s urban search and rescue teams returned home Sunday night after an eight-day deployment to Venezuela, where they searched for survivors and assisted with rescue efforts following two powerful earthquakes that devastated the country’s Caribbean coast.

The magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes struck just 39 seconds apart, leaving at least 1,430 people dead and hundreds of buildings collapsed.
