HOLLY RIDGE, N.C. — A Wilmington man is facing several charges after Holly Ridge police say he led officers on a police chase that reached 115 mph along U.S. 17.
According to charging documents, 36-year-old Michael Trent Gwaltney was arrested on July 4 after allegedly fleeing from a Holly Ridge police officer who was attempting to stop him.
Court records allege Gwaltney reached 115 mph in a 45 mph zone while driving on U.S. 17. Charging documents also allege he drove recklessly, crossed the center line, failed to maintain his lane, drove the wrong way on a divided highway and ran a steady red light while trying to avoid officers…
