More of the same tomorrow with strong scattered storms

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Monday will feel a lot like Sunday across Southeast Louisiana. Hot, humid, and a good chance of scattered to numerous strong thunderstorms popping up throughout the afternoon and evening. While most storms will be typical summer fare, a few could turn strong with gusty winds and heavy downpours.

We are locked into a typical summer pattern that will stick around for the next several days. Each afternoon, as temperatures climb and moisture builds in the atmosphere, storms will develop. Expect the highest storm chances during the afternoon and early evening hours.

A few of those storms on Monday could pack a punch. Strong to severe storms are possible, though the chances for any single location remain low. When they do develop, the main threats will be damaging wind gusts and locally heavy rainfall that could lead to quick street flooding in poor drainage areas.

If you’re heading to the coast or planning water activities, keep an eye out for waterspout activity, especially in the early morning hours…
